Here’s another tutorial, this time about flashing DCT4 Phones using J.A.F.
1. Open J.A.F. software
2. Select the DCT4 tab (it’s selected by default)
3. Click on INF to have JAF read information from your phone such as software version, unlock codes, IMEI along with other information, like this(you can scroll the window for more information):

4. After J.A.F. reads this information from your phone, this isn’t necessary but it’s recommended since you can check the communication is ok, you can proceed to select the files you want to flash into your phone.
5. Click on MCU button and select the corresponding file. If you have correctly installed the flash packages then a window like this should open. In this example the phone is a Nokia 6100.
NEVER DOWNGRADE THE PHONE’S SOFTWARE VERSION!!!! In this case the version is 6.01, so only flash a newer or equal version, otherwise the phone won’t work properly or will die completely.
It’s always a good thing to have the latest SW version installed.
6. Then select the language package PPM file. Note that the PPM and MCU must be the same version or your phone will not work properly. You can also only flash the PPM area of the phone, but do this only you have the same PPM version as the SW version from the phone. In this example the phone’s version is 6.01 so you would have to flash a 6.01 PPM version as well in order to have a working phone. Click the PPM button and a window like the following one will open:

7. Next is the CNT selection button. Note that some phones don’t have Content Package (CNT). If you know you have installed the flashfiles correctly and when you click on CNT no window opens this means the phone you have connect doesn’t have a CNT. If your phone has CNT area, then a window like this will open:

Note that MCU, PPM and CNT versions must all be the same, otherwise the phone won’t work properly, or not work at all.
8. You’re all set now, your status windows should look something like this, showing all the loaded files that are ready to be flashed into the phone:

Once you have loaded all the necessary files, click Flash and wait for the process to complete.
During flashing JAF displays a progress bar and information about the current operation:

Once the process is complete, JAF will perform After Flash Processing (AFP) and it’s pretty much done. You can skip AFP by checking the "Skip AFP" checkbox in the upper left part of the interface:

This pretty much covers the basics of flashing a phone using JAF.
The above procedure is for a working phone, but let’s assume you have a dead phone that doesn’t respund to INF button.
In this example we have a 6230 which we try to flash using the MANUAL method.
1. First of all you need to check the "Manual Flash" box as shown in the picture.
2. Click on MCU. Now JAF will open the window containing all of your installed flash packages
3. Open the folder corresponding to your phone, in this case it’s RH-12 for Nokia 6230

4. The same thing goes for PPM and CNT(if applicable)
5. After you have loaded all of the required files you may proceed normally with flashing.

This is how it should look, you may now click flash and wait for the process to finish.
Happy flashing!
